The Black Keys Features John Fogerty at Second Weekend of Coachella
INDIO - The Black Keys featured the musical legend John Fogerty as their special guest Friday night at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
Fogerty, a singer/songwriter formerly of Creedence Clearwater Revival, performed "The Weight" with the Black Keys member Dan Auerbach while drummer Patrick Carney was backing them up.
The performance was to a tribute to Levon Helm, a singer and backup singer for The Band who died recently.
When Fogerty was announced, he waved and the audience picked up their camera phones to document what was going on.
Besides Fogerty, the Akron, Ohio, group more than held their own with well played and engineered songs like "Lonely Boy," "Tighten Up," "Howlin' for You," "Set You Free" and set closer "I Got Mine."
The garage and blues rock group's second weekend set featured songs in different places which seemed to connect with this weekend's audience. The number of fans leaving the performance midway appeared to be less than last week, when they performed on a Monday.
While the sound was great, there was an issue with the Fogerty and Auerbach duet because their voices could barely be heard when they started singing together.
