CREEDENCE LEGEND JOHN FOGERTY RETURNS TO LONDON'S ROYAL ALBERT HALL FOR FIRST TIME SINCE LEGENDARY 1971 CONCERT

Monday, June 16 — Mojo Awards - London

Sunday, June 22 — Manchester Apollo

Tuesday, June 24 — London Royal Albert Hall

Thirty-eight years after first stepping on the Royal Albert Hall stage in April 1970 as the leader of Creedence Clearwater Revival, John Fogerty triumphantly returned to the London venue on June 24 in support of his GRAMMY-nominated album 'Revival'. It was Fogerty's first show at Royal Albert Hall since he performed there with CCR in September 1971.

Playing at the historic venue during the height of CCR's phenomenal success, Fogerty couldn't have imagined the long journey that lay ahead of him. And now with his return to Royal Albert Hall Fogerty celebrates his recent 'Revival', coming full circle with a concert repertoire featuring his solo and CCR hits, as well as tracks from 'Revival,' of which Rolling Stone said "Fogerty finally reclaims his own musical vocabulary, playing with more passion and joy than he has in decades."

The timing couldn't be better. The Royal Albert Hall show came on the heels of a highly successful string of US dates which were met with heaps of critical praise. Here's what they're saying...

Additionally, on June 16 Fogerty was given the coveted Inspiration Award at the prestigious Mojo Music Awards, held annually by Mojo Magazine in London. The ceremony regularly brings together an amazing array of global rock and pop talent.

* "A reminder that he wrote some of the rock pantheon's definitive songs, which he continues to deliver with bite."- LA Times

* "A masterful, triumphant concert that fused Fogerty's spirit, songs, and showmanship into an indomitable, indelible whole."- Boston Globe

* "Fogerty and his five-piece band tore into "Good Golly Miss Molly," the first salvo in two hours of music that found the former leader of Creedence Clearwater Revival in the finest form of his solo career."- Philadelphia Inquirer

* "John Fogerty kills it in concert."- Louisville Courier Journal

JOHN ROCKS HELSINKI

John's recent show at Helsinki's Hartwall Arena was given a rave review in a local newspaper. Here's an English translation courtesy of johnfogerty.com community member Makkala...thanks!

THE HERO OF AMERICANA IS AT THE TOP OF HIS GAME

John Fogerty presented a full-bodied two hours at the Arena.

John Fogerty's fresh album Revival in many ways breathes from being freed from the long shadows of Creedence Clearwater Revival and the bitter disputes and crises following the breakup of it.

Also Fogerty himself seems refreshed and reinforced: The full-bodied two hours in the Arena can be regarded as his best performance in Finland.

The show was approximately like its predecessors. This time, though, the artist had a new album, which is one of the best of his solo career, as a springboard, from which half a dozen songs were heard, from comments breathing political dissatisfaction (I Can't Take It No More) to subtle declarations of love (Broken Down Cowboy).

Fogerty went so far in celebrating his family that he proudly demonstrated a picture of a sea horse drawn by his six-year-old daughter.

However, above all the public wants the CCR classics from Fogerty, and a representative setting of them was gotten.

The hits are still played like the original versions with all of their signature guitar parts and tempo changes, but on album tracks and several cover songs Fogerty made his six piece backing band to rock in even surprisingly rich instrumental spheres.

As a singer Fogerty is still a rarely hard and high singing rock tenor, but now he has also started to take himself more and more room to move as a guitarist. The scale of the playing reached from trademark-like skillfull feedback-making it to cry ['ulvotus' is really hard to translate] to singing rock-bending, and from playing with tapping technique to alternating country runs with Jason Mowery.

The skillfull fiddle-playing by the last mentioned got well deserved and splendidly used room for soloing in the country songs, and Mowery's cajun-style sawing in the zydeco-bravura My Toot Toot probably confused many who know the song only as Anita Hirvonen's Finnish version.

Anyway, with all of these solutions and alternations of styles Fogerty showed how his country and rock, his bayou sound and San Francisco jamming rise from the one same soil of traditional American music, which we in a trendy way can call Americana.

As a meritorious hero of that [Americana] Fogerty, 63 years today, is at the top of his game."

And here is Makkari's own review of the show...thanks again to our great fans who contribute so much to John's concerts and our community forum:

All right here we go... I really don't know what to say but I will try my best. Also I'm pretty tired since I didn't sleep very much. I went to bed at 2 o'clock but couldn't get much sleep because I hadn't eaten very much after the show and my stomach was crying for food.. I didn't get up to eat anymore because... maybe because I was so tired... Also I really don't want to lose my sleep rhythm now, so I got up at about 8. So I apologize for possible typos and even badder English than what I usually write.

Hey! Can you imagine how hard it's to write something that makes sense now! I don't know where to start... Anyway, before the show there was a nice fan gathering in a bar near the venue... There were many people from this board as well as other Finnish fans. The million milers were there too. I won't try to mention all the Forum fans that were there since there was such a lot of people and I didn't even know everyone and I would forget someone anyway. I got to meet some really nice people whom I hadn't met before and got a real good preparation for the show. It was nice to hear about Iceland and everything from Petra, Robert, Alessio, Anne and her parents and it was good to see that everyone was all right. The sun was shining bright in honour of John's first show here since 2005.

In 2005 the Hartwall Areena was almost packed, which means about 13 000 people. Now there were only about 7000 maybe and I was pretty disappointed with that. Petra asked what has happened to Sweden and I wonder what has happened to Finland. Revival only reached #17 on the charts and the show wasn't anywhere near sold out. The show was great though, as you probably know by now.

The show started with Born On the Bayou, which is maybe the best choice for the first song after all. I heard Hunter's guitar over everything else and the intro sounded pretty odd. Also the vocals weren't loud enough and I didn't hear Jason's mandolin at all. Jason played mandolin on, I think, most of the songs, but he was just strumming the rhythm, no mandolin solos. And as I said I didn't hear any mandolin at all. After Born On the Bayou came Green River, this time without any background story. Then after the funny Woodstock story, Who'll Stop the Rain, which as always brought tears to my eyes. I just love that song so much I can't describe it. The song is so beautiful and it has such a deep meaning on many levels. That was also the point when I started understanding that I was seeing JOHN FOGERTY! Oh, and that was the first song I ever learned to play on the guitar... So anyway I love, love, love that song!

Then after WSTR John played Don't You Wish It Was True, which means almost equally much to me as WSTR... I've explained why I love it so much before and I fear I'm starting to sound over-pathetical now, so I will skip that thing. John played his new (?) blue Les Paul, the one that was on the cover of Guitar Player some time ago on DYWIWT and several other songs. Jason played a little banjo here, which sounded cool. Lookin' Out My Backdoor was next and sounded nice with Jason on fiddle. John played a red guitar, which looked like the one he played at the Grammys... He used that guitar for all the songs that he used to play a Telecaster on. I was slightly disappointed not to see and hear the magnificient red Telecaster. Hunter played the intro on electric guitar with a slide.

Now the REAL fun begins! John took his gorgeous RICKENBACKER and we were all thinking Susie Q. But John didn't start with the intro, instead Kenny kicked it off with a great drum roll and John went into I PUT A SPELL ON YOU!!! Believe me when I tell you that John's guitar work was just incredible here! Also I want to say that his vocals sounded very powerful. He really proved that he has still got THE VOICE! Wow John! That was spooky stuff! Ramble Tamble! Another long song with some awesome guitar work. This song was of course one of the many highlights. Then we got even more jamming. Hunter started the next song with a real loud guitar riff and I didn't regognize it at first. it turned out to be SOMEBODY HELP ME, which is one of my 12 favorites off Revival and such an AWESOME live song! The band was loose and jamming in the middle of the song with Jason playing some kinda of conga (??) drum!!! John's guitar solos were GREAT as well and that song just rocks! And Hunter rocks! You GOT TO hear this one live! I seem to have jotted down that I didn't hear much of the vocals here, but it was great anyway. Then I have written "BG" or "B6" or something like that in my notes under Somebody Help Me and I have no idea what that was supposed to mean.

The next song was Sweet Hitch-Hiker, which was played for the first time this tour. Nice fills by Hunter. Then Down On The Corner. Billy tried to get the people up on their feet and many people did stand up for a while, but sat down after a couple of songs. Bad Moon Rising. John did the "bathroom on the right" thing twice. First he pointed to his right and then to our right! I think Petra was "wawing her hands like "no, no, the right is there" when he did that. Midnight Special. I love Matt's keyboard work on this one. It really adds a lot to the song, which becomes a really soulful rhythm and blues thing. Then Cotton Fields, which Jason started on the fiddle. He also shared the solo with John. They were both having so much fun while doing that. It sounded and looked great. Then John introduced the next song by saying that he learned it from the man who wrote it, Rockin' Sidney. My Toot Toot is a really nice addition to the set list and a great example of John's love to his fans. The riff sounded nice played on the keyboards.

Then... Broken Down Cowboy. You got to be there to feel the true emotion in John's dedication to Julie. He said he was a lost cowboy walking down that lonesome desolation row or something like that. Then he told that he wasn't sure he deserved Julie and was answered by someone in the crowd that he sure did. I really don't know what to say about the song itself. I loved it. The lap steel fills that Jason played added a lot to the song. Lovely. After the song it was really quiet and when a women in the front row that we didn't know shouted (well she didn't shout but sounded anyway...), John turned to her, put his index finger on his lips and went "shhh"... and something like "don't tell anyone, were alone"... John was so funny yesterday, kidding all the time. Keep on Chooglin' had the great KA drum solo, which got a nice response from the crowd, and of course a great harp solo by John and the guitar intro... almost forgot that one!

John took an acoustic guitar and walked to the microphone. Then it happened. The guys right in front of John (I can't remember who exactly) held up their Finnish Comin' Down The Road banner and I held up my sign. Petra also had a small one. John read aloud from the banner (into the mic all the time) something like "Now what's that's that... Please John play Comin' Down the road... then he saw my sign "Comin' Down the Road"... And he went "It's a CONSPIRACY!!!" (still into the mic). Then the funniest thing happened. John walked to the back of the stage and took Kelseys drawing and showed it to us like "haa! I win"... It's difficult to explain, you should have been there... We all just flipped it was so funny... John said "Maybe you will get Comin' Down the Road for that!" We didn't really know what it meant, and I thought he would probably play it at some later show. Anyway, then he told about Australia and Kelsey and showed the seahorse and asked if it wasn't the best seahorse ever, and of course the crowd responded YEAH! (I don't know how people way back could have seen it though ). The beautiful Have You Ever Seen the Rain was played.

Then they played Gunslinger and I went crazy again since I love that song. it was different from the Revival version and the Soundstage version. Hunter played the riffs after "I think we need a Gunslinger" with apretty loud distorted guitar sound. Well it was a thrill to hear that song but....

John explained how he was invited to play at the Grammys with Jerry Lee Lewis and Little Richard and we went WOOOHOOO! But then we didn't believe it was going to happen so we calmed ourself down by saying and thinking that well, he'll just do Good Golly... But then John explained how he was asked if he had some suitable song for the event and that he was like (digging his pocket) well, there's one I wrote 35 years ago and we went completely nuts!!! Then JOHN PLAYED COMIN' DOWN THE ROAD!!!
He added a third verse to the song, which really sounded like he was singing about the Million Milers and I'm pretty sure it was a dedication to the fans, although I didn't hear the words!!! That was just unbelievable. Everyone should have been there. I'm so sorry for Darlene and Merry and all the others who couldn't make it and I guess Brian must be glad that he came here after all! I'm not sure about the crowds reaction because I didn't pay any notice to that. I went completely crazy you know. And from then on it was a really crazy show!!! We shouted "John! John! John! John! John! John...

Blue Ridge Mountain Blues was cool, although I started to argue with security moron so I missed part of it. I was trying to defend a guy whose seat I think was way back and who had come to the front. The security said he wasn't allowed to be at the front and he was sent back two or three times! But with a little help from Petra and the crowd that finally was starting to stand up we finally won afew songs later. Long Dark Night was the next song immediately followed by I Can't Take It No More. Great rock 'n' roll! Good Golly Miss Molly. Up Around The Bend finally got more people up on their feet. The Old Man Down The Road was a highlight as always. Then Fortunate Son and I think almost everyone on the floor stood up. Rockin' All Over The World and Proud Mary in the encore.

So that was the best show ever. We were all eight miles high and acted like drunks. There might be some photos of us after the show. We didn't take much photos during the show because it was announced that John didn't want people to take photos because it would interfere with the sound system or something like that. I don't believe that came from John though.

We went to a bar after the show and got a couple of drinks. And then drove away with eleven people in one car.

Well, that was it! Oh my god if you read all this!!!

I hope you'll all get to hear Comin' Down The Road and all the other great songs live!!! See you in Belgium!

No Depression cover photo of John Fogerty

No Depression raves as John Fogerty graces the cover of the November/December edition, on newsstands today. Kicks off US tour tomorrow night in NYC

Calling his latest album 'Revival' (Fantasy Records) "as fresh as today's headlines and as timeless as classic Creedence," No Depression takes an in-depth look at November/ December cover star John Fogerty. In the 10-page feature, with gorgeous black and white photography by Aldo Mauro, No Depression talks to Fogerty about his stellar new disc, what it took to get his muse back and the process with which he writes some of the greatest songs in the history of rock & roll.

'Revival,' which debuted at #14 on the Billboard charts, has received raves from critics. Entertainment Weekly says "His soul-scarred voice and knack for killer licks remain as potent as ever," while the Washington Post says 'Revival' is "a timeless-sounding album that unabashedly evokes CCR even as it makes timely again the roots-pop the band patented."

Fogerty will embark on a US tour tomorrow night, kicking off in New York City. All dates can be found on the johnfogerty.com tour page.

JOHN FOGERTY'S "MUSE COMES FULLY ALIVE" ON 'REVIVAL'

A chorus of raves advances the release John Fogerty's new album 'Revival,' out October 2 on Fantasy Records. Here's a sampling of what we've been hearing:

"Full-bore return to choogling swamp-pop."
USA Today, Edna Gundersen

"Revival is no rerun. It is Fogerty getting back to work—and finally acting on his own advice, in a song he's actually named after his old band: "You can't go wrong if you play a little bit of that Creedence song."
Rolling Stone, David Fricke

"Fogerty's muse comes fully alive, nodding gently to his estimable legacy while moving firmly forward."
Harp, Fred Mills

"Still making his guitar twang, still singing in that rockabilly yowl, John Fogerty is angry about the war, the president, American culture and vanished youth on his new album, 'Revival,' and it just makes him rock harder."
New York Times, Jon Pareles

"Mr. CCR has created a masterpiece and Revival is unquestionably one of the ten best discs of 2007."
Relix, Lou Friedman

John Fogerty Revival
JOHN FOGERTY UNLEASHES A ROCK 'N' ROLL "REVIVAL" ON OCTOBER 2nd

THE ROCK 'N' ROLL HALL OF FAMER'S FIRST ALBUM OF NEW MATERIAL ON FANTASY RECORDS IN 35 YEARS IS HIS 'TRUEST' SOLO RECORD

John Fogerty reclaims his rightful place among America's most iconic and revered artists with the forthcoming Revival, due October 2nd.

Pre-order Revival Now!

Fogerty's contribution to popular culture cannot be overstated; his songs have become part of rock's DNA, the very building blocks upon which much of American rock and roll has been built. As the album title tantalizingly suggests, Revival represents a renewed musical spirit and heart from Fogerty that incorporates all the best elements of a career that has resonated deeply with generations of music fans and the thousands of artists that he has influenced.

"It just seemed like all the records I have made since Creedence Clearwater Revival have all been sort of pushed off center," he says. "I felt like I was dancing around the outskirts of what is my true center. With this album, I really wanted to stay on the mark, right in the middle, right where rock 'n' roll is. I wanted this one to be easier, a lot more fun than some of the past records have been."

That renewed sense of joy shines through on the self-produced Revival. The wistful, infectious opening track "Don't You Wish It Was True" instantly puts a smile on the listener's face. "Gunslinger"'s cinematic western-theme evokes vintage-era Creedence, while on the deliciously swampy "Creedence Song," Fogerty correctly and humorously assesses "You can't go wrong/if you play a little bit of that Creedence song." His love of classic Sun Records-era rockabilly permeates "It Ain't Right," one of many tunes on the album that allows Fogerty, whom Rolling Stone named one of the greatest guitarists of all time, to show off his blistering guitar work. "The River is Waiting" is a gorgeous, hymn-like spiritual that features well-known vocal trio, The Waters on backup vocals. A trenchant observer of the world's troubles, Fogerty weighs in on the current administration with the rollicking, biting "Long Dark Night" and the 'mission critical' statement of "I Can't Take It No More" with its unmistakable admonition "...another fortunate son."

This project came together faster then any in his post-CCR career. With his ace band, which includes Kenny Aronoff on drums, Hunter Perrin on guitar, David Santos on bass and guest Benmont Tench on keyboards, he laid down the basic tracks in just 12 days. "A lot of times on prior albums, there are those moments where you're in the studio or rehearsing and you're going through this agony, you're very unsettled or anxious because you're not completely sure it's going to work. Even in rehearsal this time, I knew it was all going to work."

Revival is Fogerty's first album of new material on Fantasy following a very public 30-year battle with the label over his catalog. The reconciliation led to the first complete retrospective of his career, The Long Road Home, which came out in late 2005. Fogerty calls seeing the Fantasy logo on his new record is nothing short of "surreal."

Fogerty, writer of such rock classics as "Proud Mary," "Centerfield", "Bad Moon Rising," "Rockin' All Over the World," "Born on the Bayou" and "Fortunate Son," was inducted into the prestigious Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2005. His 1997 album, "Blue Moon Swamp," won the Grammy for best rock album.

Revival is not just a great John Fogerty album - and a great rock album - it's an essential musical work by an artist without peer, which will certainly stand as one of the most compelling albums of 2007.
