Hope that release date is wrong... announcements said it would be released in "early 2013," but I wouldn't consider the end of May especially early. Oh well. Looking forward to hearing about the details, pretty exciting. We already know the Zac Brown Band is doing an unannounced song on there, but who knows what other surprises will be there?

There is an amazing group of artists who have joined Fogerty in making this record bringing their distinctive style to his songs. There are additional touches being added to the recording, including some new original songs and notable surprises. Check back here for further updates!

That was a post made on John's website after the postponement (and track listing) was announced. So we should expect to hear details about NEW SONGS and probably the "notable surprises" are NEW DUET PARTNERS.

There is clearly a huge promotional blitz for this album. Ads with the new album cover keep popping up everywhere, even on huge sites like Youtube and LA Times. Props to Vanguard for doing this, hopefully it generates some added excitement.

But I can't say I agree with the decision to make "Born on the Bayou" the first single. It's a solid track, but in my opinion it's too similar to the original (untouchable) CCR version to be the lead single, and Kid Rock doesn't add that much to the new version. I would've put out Someday Never Comes as the first single... not many people know the CCR original, so they'll assume the new version is the best... plus Dawes is known for its beautiful harmonies, so I'm sure the public would eat this song up.

Here's a cool promotional idea: for every week leading up to the new album release, stream one new track online. Springsteen did that last year (on sites like NPR, MTV, etc.) and it created a nice buzz for the new album. Just a thought...

The new songs do have lyrics.

It's funny you brought that up - Born on the Bayou is actually not the first single. It is just a fun little tease we wanted to put out during the Super Bowl, given the whole New Orleans connection. The first single has yet to be released!

I was telling my wife last night that just before Super Bowl kickoff, they should have played BOTB......or better yet, when the power went out.

I was down in New Orleans a year or so back. Those folks absolutely LOVE and ADORE Born on the Bayou and they tell everyone how much they love Creedence!!!!
It was a brilliant marketing manuever to tie this release to the Super Bowl!!!! I tell you, the swamp folks, the city slicks, the voodoo queens and the street walkers who walk on the dark side of midnight all just really relate to this song!!!!

I thought it was quite the voodoo quirk that 66% of the lights suddenly quit during the 3rd quarter of the Super Bowl football game!!! The Ravens were flocking together to keep their sanity, as the Niner's were were doing jumping jacks to try and close the lead.

Leave it to New Orleans to have such a mysterious black-out take out the biggest football game of the seaon!!!! It is soooo voodoo-ish!!!

After the game, I tuned into watch this Irish lad, Craig Ferguson do his show live, from the Mississippi Riverfront. He had the spirited and lovely 49'ers Cheer Squad out there doing a vigorous dance, and Mr Ferguson joined in with them!!! WOW!!! It is rare to see a man in a suit dance so amazingly!!! He was totally rehearsed and 100% accurate with his moves!!!! MY MY MY!!! He does a funny show and I love that silly skeleton man who is his side kick. I also love that funny fake horse that trots around the place, with the highkicking rear end. Such tomfoolery, but really really FUN!!!!

Anyhow - what really made me a believer in Craig Ferguson is the moment when he jumped atop his desk, pulled out a normal sized harmonica and jammed with his band!!!! WOW WOW WOW!!!

Gosh!!!! Ferguson must be a Creedence fan because that dude ROCKS!!!!!!!
