A sincere thank you.
I am not a huge music fam but I have learned the power truly special music. Last Oct. 28th I was diagnosed with esophogeal cancer. Without wallowing in the details of the rigorous treatment,(agressive radiation, chemo and surgery), I can tell you that I was left wondering if I would make it and what kind of life would be left. Then lo and behold I heard Who'll stop the rain. Something clicked and all of a sudden I was a first time Amazon user madly downloading Mr. Fogerty's remarkable collection of music both new, to me, and the CCR music from my youth. I have now come out of the darkness of cancer, begun to excersize and now look forward to my daughters weddings. Other than my courageous family the music of John Fogerty is to credit for what now is a positive out look and a bright future. Thank you John for your perserverence and unbelievable talent. I am living proof that your music reaches very special places.
Sincerely,
Chris Ropar

Re: A sincere thank you.
Wow, what a letter. I certainly can't speak for Mr. Fogerty, but a letter like that would definitely be the high point of my career as a singer/songwriter.

Chris, I wish you all the best. As long as you want something and fight for it, there´s hope. Johns music has been my "daily bread" since 1969. Can´t live without it. Your letter touched me and you´ll be in my prayers. Take care

Re: A sincere thank you.
I thought I would add something else to this story.Back in March of 1997 I had Quadruple Bypass Surjury. Was really feeling in the dumps, all most died from the procedure. Was walking in the Mall one day for exersize decided to walk in to a Record store to see if anything new from John had come out.You know his last album Eye of the Zombie was 10 years earlier.Figured he decided to hang it up.But lo and behold there was Blue Moon Swamp in the rack.Back in the day you didn't know when something was coming out. Maybe that is a good thing. It was something to feel good about again.I have told my wife when I die to put on my tombstone.Whenever you hear a John Fogerty or Creedence song ,think of Me.My son said he would put a solar player on the tombstone that you could push a button, and play one of his songs. I love it,Hooch!

Re: A sincere thank you.
Hey there Chris, and Hooch also,
You know, Fogerty's music has in indescibable property to it. Perhaps it the simplicity of how he strings together his cords and lyrics, and the subject matter of his songs that delve deeply into our collective souls.
But it affects so many thousands of people, it's really just mind-boggling!
I hope the best for both of you as you're recovering from serious medical conditions. Science and medicine have come such a long way and great discoveries are now implemented for patients care. I wish and hope and pray for the best for the both of you.
It never fails, and so I must send my thoughts along to you, that whenever I'm feeling blue or sad or depressed or down about something going wrong or amiss, two songs really work like a magic tonic for me.
Those two songs are "Feelin' Blue" and "Proud Mary."
There's something very genuine and authentic about those two songs that come up and vitually rescue your day from being a complete loss.
I can't put my finger on what the thing is that these songs bring to me, but they bring such a powerful, restorative thought process to my mind and soul.
I hope by hearing these songs, you feel the same power that will help you overcome life's obstacles, big or small. God bless. -
Re: A sincere thank you.
Chris and Hooch, wish you two good health going forward. I have told my girlfriend, that if anything happens to me,not to play funeral dirges. It's gotta be "737 coming out of the sky, won't you take me down to Memphis on a midnight ride" . That song just says all there is to say about rock and roll for me.
Can't wait to catch John live again on Sept. 15th. in Oshawa. Keep on Chooglin' all.
